First Nations Art Framing
The framing of first nations artwork requires care and cultural sensitivity. We stretch and frame Australian Aboriginal paintings on canvas of various mediums including acrylic as well as the delicate ochre paintings. When considering the framing of a canvas we consider firstly if this appropriate for the artwork, some indigenous artists prefer their artworks to be stretched only. When a canvas is being framed we consider the most appropriate material and colour with Australian blackwood or oak float frames being the most popular choices. In addition to paintings on canvas we also frame works on paper as well as barkcloth or paintings on bark. The framing materials and methods used to frame theses works are conservation grade and reversible.
